POINTE D'ESNY
Pointe d’Esny is a quiet resort situated in the south-east between Mahebourg and Blue Bay about 10 minutes drive from SSR International Airport. L’Ile aux Aigrettes, a small islet situated opposite Pointe d’Esny beach, is only a short boat ride away. It is a bird sanctuary for endemic species, some being among the rarest in the world, like the Mauritian Kestrel or the Pink Pigeon. A well-stocked supermarket and a few restaurants are located all along its coast road.
The turquoise lagoon protected by coral reefs is safe for swimming and snorkelling, although the latter activity is best in Blue Bay Marine Park, only one kilometre away, where one may discover rare species of the island’s marine fauna. Winter may be slightly windy, but visitors will enjoy lazing in the sun on the sandy beach and swimming in its warm waters during summer. Catamaran trips to Ile aux Cerfs...
