TAMARIN
Tamarin is a residential area on the west coast of Mauritius, between Flic en Flac and Black River, and 75 minutes drive from SSR International Airport. Tamarin may be described as having two distinct parts separated by Tamarin River. On one side of the river, where the area is known as “Le Barachois”, there is a very wide beach of “grey sand” due to the alluvial deposits brought by the river. This is the very spot where surfing first started in Mauritius.
This area is accessible througha 1-kilometer road going through Tamarina Golf Estate & Beach Club. There are a very few beach bungalows on this side of the river. There is a hotel right on the beach about 200 metres from the river. The beach on this side of the river stretching right to Black River has powdery white sand with several beachfront villas and bungalows...
